Now in its final phases in preparation for Fall 2022 classes, the center will house much-needed manufacturing courses that include process operation technology, industrial maintenance, electronics engineering technology, machine tool technology, additive manufacturing (3D printing), computer-aided drafting and design, fluid power technology, mechatronics, and robotics. Welding Technology is a part of the Center and is housed at the College’s Carver Campus. This center’s mission will focus on STEM education and training and will contain a first-of-its-kind process technology laboratory, a large conference center style lecture hall, computer labs, theory classrooms, and a cyber cafe.
We are confident that with the partnerships already developed, Bishop State’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center will help attract more high-quality, high-wage jobs, provide a trained and skilled workforce, and close the workforce jobs gap currently prevalent in urban communities - helping industry meet its diversity and inclusion goals.
These partners include both private corporations and government entities within our region and beyond. Our partnerships include the City of Mobile, the Mobile County Commission, the Mobile Airport Authority, Vail Rubber Works, Lenzing Fibers, Outokumpu, SSAB, Alabama Power, Canfor Southern Pine, South Alabama Workforce Development Council, Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment, and the Manufacturing Institute.
The center will be located on the Main Campus in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Classes in the new facility are set to begin in Fall 2022.
