Previous Story:

The Fix It Workforce Development Program is designed to prepare income-eligible out-of-school youths between the ages of 17 and 24 an opportunity to enter the highly competitive construction industry. Participants can also choose to prepare for entry into the auto body repair industry. Both are in very high demand and we have been successful in placing students in meaningful jobs.

The next Construction cohort begins on October 25, 2021 and is limited to just twelve participants. This class will include courses in carpentry, electrical, and workplace safety. Most of it is hands-on work in our carpentry shop and also includes work in the field building and rehabilitating houses. Best of all, there are no out-of-pocket costs to participants. Tuition has already been paid. Not only that, participants can earn a $300 stipend after the first five weeks and $20 per day thereafter, for each day they are in class. When the course is finished, Bishop State will help participants find meaningful work.

Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 3:30 with an hour for lunch. Class size is limited to twelve participants.
