MOBILE, Ala., (March 11, 2020)Students participating in Bishop State Community College's first lineworker training program have completed the program and are now ready to graduate and enter the workforce.

The Inaugural Lineworker Training Program Graduation Ceremony will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020, at 10 a.m. at the Bishop State Community College Southwest Campus which is located at 925 Dauphin Island Parkway; Mobile, Alabama 36605.

Bishop State and Alabama Power partnered to bring this program to Mobile with a goal of preparing students for rewarding careers as lineworkers.

This first class is graduating with a 100-percent pass rate as all 23 students who started the program will now graduate. These students are also now eligible for entry-level jobs with utility companies across the Gulf Coast and beyond. Graduates have completed the required 9-week course which includes receiving a commercial driver’s license (CDL), CPR certification, OSHA 10 card, as well as other certificates provided by Alabama Power.

The media is invited to attend the graduation ceremony, witness students officially accept job offers from area utility companies, and talk with our graduates about their experience and plans after graduation.

The next lineworker training program is set to begin in June, however, the application acceptance period has already closed. Be sure to follow Bishop State (@BishopState) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news on this and other programs.
