(MOBILE, Ala., January 19, 2022) - Bishop State Community College is hosting an informational session about its new program FAME on the Coast, a chapter of Alabama Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education or Alabama FAME. The session will take place on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 9 a.m. at Bishop State’s Main Campus located at 351 North Broad Street; Mobile, Ala. 36603.

The new work-based learning program will provide students working experience as well as training in a classroom and lab setting while meeting the employment needs and challenges in advanced manufacturing.

High school career technical education directors, counselors, signature academy specialists, and career coaches are all invited to attend the information session so they can share these additional career options with their students after high school graduation.

At Bishop State, the students will receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Process Operations Technology. They learn about process operations, fundamentals of industrial hydraulics and pneumatics as well as principles in industrial mechanics, industrial pumps, and piping systems.

FAME on the Coast is a partnership between Bishop State Community College, Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council (SAWDC), and area businesses and industries.

The deadline to apply to FAME on the Coast is Friday, April 15, 2022. To apply to the program, visit the FAME on the Coast page of our website. For more information, call A. J. Greggs at 251-665-4084 or email fame@bishop.edu.
