OVERLAND PARK, Kan., (May 14, 2018) — The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Associate Degree Board of Commissioners has reaffirmed accreditation of the business programs at Bishop State Community College. Celebrating 30 years of excellence in global business program accreditation, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business degrees and programs offered through the Business and Economics Department at Bishop State Community College meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP. Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offers a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement. The business programs at Bishop State Community College were first accredited by ACBSP in 1988. The College is required to go through the reaffirmation process every 10 years to maintain ACBSP accreditation. “Bishop State Community College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Reaffirmation of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2018 in Kansas City, Mo., on June 10. “This reaffirmation of accreditation is evidence that BSCC is committed to maintaining the highest quality business education for their students for the next 10 years, just as they have done since 1988,” said Parscale. Bishop State's ACBSP Coordinator says, "Having ACBSP accreditation signifies the College is providing students enrolled in the accredited programs with the highest quality of administrative leadership, qualified faculty, effective instructional delivery, outstanding support services, an abundance of financial resources and a superb learning environment." In addition to the learning outcomes, Davis says the college has the opportunity to develop articulation agreements with 20 plus colleges and universities in the state of Alabama that are also accredited by ACBSP. The next reaffirmation of accreditation will be conducted in 2028. In the interim, the college will submit bi-annual reports to insure the college continues the assessment of the programs using the standards established by the Associated Degree Commission of ACBSP.
