What is the Heavy Highway Construction Training Program?

The Heavy Highway Construction Training Program is a 10-week intensive, hands-on course designed to prepare students for a fulfilling and stable career in the highway construction industry. Throughout the 10 weeks, students will gain practical experience and classroom instruction on essential aspects of highway construction.

With ongoing infrastructure projects and workforce demand, this program is an excellent stepping stone to a secure and rewarding career with high-wage earning potential. This program is the result of a collaboration between Bishop State Community College, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Requirements


Potential students must:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Be willing to take and pass a drug test
  • Must take the Accuplacer exam and test at a 5th grade level or higher

After completing an application, potential students will have the opportunity to take the TABE test at Bishop State before being fully accepted into the program.
