Bishop State Students:

Following the directives issued by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, Alabama Community College Chancellor Jimmy Baker, and under the guidance of Bishop State President Dr. Reggie Sykes, Bishop State Community College is transitioning all classes to temporarily operate in a remote format.

Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020, all on-campus face-to-face classes will move to remote instruction. Students should check Canvas and their Bishop State emails for the latest updates. Your instructors will send specific information about how your course will continue. Online courses will continue as outlined in the course syllabus. Hybrid classes will follow their schedules as outlined but will not meet on campus; however, your instructors will be available online for assistance and will provide supplemental materials through Canvas. Face-to-face classes will not meet on campus. All instruction will be delivered via Canvas. Instructors will contact you via Bishop and/or Canvas email and Canvas announcements to communicate directions for how to access instruction and assignments.

Students can access Canvas online http://bishop.instructure.com or via the Canvas app. For a quick tutorial on how to log into your account, watch this short 3-minute video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdWrJNDrTjo&t=88s

Beginning Friday, March 20 through at least Sunday, April 5, most faculty and staff will be working remotely. Email is the best method of communication while instructors and staff are away from their offices. You can find your instructors’ email addresses on your class syllabus.

Spring Break will be observed by faculty and students as scheduled beginning Monday, March 30 - Sunday, April 5. At this time, on-campus or face-to-face classes are expected to resume meeting beginning Monday, April 6.
