Four Bishop State student-athletes are standing out from the rest, but this time it's not because of their skills on the court or in the field. These students are among the record-setting 287 student-athletes in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) who have been awarded NJCAA honors for their academic achievement. The students are ranked first, second and third team based on their GPA. First Team: 4.00 GPA Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA Rev Lizabeth Alcantara, the school's only female golfer, was awarded First Team. This is the first year Bishop State has had a women's golf team. Richard Lane Colson, who plays infield for the baseball team, was awarded Second Team honors. Kaley Patteson, who pitched and played first base on the softball team, was also awarded Second Team. Courtney Jordan, a forward for the women's basketball team, was awarded Third Team.
