UPDATE (May 18, 2018): Rev Lizabeth Alcantara places 44th out of 116 athletes in the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship in Mesa, Arizona. Rev became very sick Tuesday, but was determined to stay in the competition and finish what she started. Bishop State is proud of her efforts and dedication. President Dr. Reginald Sykes says both Rev and Head Coach Ronald Davis have represented the College well. We look forward to watching both Rev and the women's golf team continue to grow and excel. PREVIOUS STORY: (MESA, Ariz., May 16, 2018) -- The golf season isn’t over yet at Bishop State! Rev Lizabeth Alcantara from Mesa, Philippines is the first Bishop State athlete to compete on the national level. She is also the only athlete on the College’s first-ever women’s golf team. So having her represent Bishop State at the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Women’s Championship in Mesa, Arizona is a big deal. The four-day competition runs May 14-17. After Day 1, Rev had a round of 81 for 20th place out of 116 players. Women’s head golf coach, Ronald Davis, says the course is rather difficult, but “she appeared to have adjusted to the speedy greens.” We will continue to follow and update Rev’s progress during this competition.
