MOBILE, Ala., (July 29, 2021) - Bishop State Community College has $5 million of CARES Act funding to help students get back on track with their education. Through the Bishop State CARES - Emergency Relief Grant, Bishop State is providing all qualifying degree-seeking students up to $1,467 (equal to 9 credit hours of in-state tuition and fees) in grant funds to use toward tuition and fees for the Fall 2021 semester.

Degree-seeking students in for-credit courses need to complete the following steps to qualify.

  1. Submit an application for admission to Bishop State

  2. Complete and submit a FAFSA (001030 school code)

  3. Register for Fall 2021 classes

  4. Complete the grant application which will be emailed to their Bishop State email account after registering for Fall 2021 classes.

This grant will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to apply and have everything on file is by the close of business on Monday, August 16, 2021. Please note that once a FAFSA is completed, it could take between 3 to 7 days for the FAFSA application to be processed and appear on a student’s file at Bishop State. The student’s FAFSA must be completed and on their Bishop State file to qualify for this grant. The sooner the FAFSA is completed, the better!

Students can apply for admission to the College and complete the FAFSA at any time. Apply online or stop by the Bishop State Main campus Monday - Thursday from 8a - 5p and Friday from 8a - 2p. Students can also attend any of the college’s upcoming Wildcat Welcome - New Student Orientation sessions to get assistance with applying. The next sessions will take place:

  • August 2, 2021 at 10 a.m.

  • August 4, 2021 at 6 p.m.
