MOBILE, Ala., (May 20, 2018) – Christopher Byrd of Spanish Fort has been named executive director of Providence Medical Group, a regional network of primary care and specialty physicians affiliated with Providence Hospital. Byrd comes to Providence Medical Group from Children’s Medical Group, PA, a 12-physician pediatrics practice where he served as administrator. He began his career in 1996 as a staff nurse at Providence Hospital and has since served as operations director for several leading health care facilities along the Gulf Coast. Byrd got his start in the medical field at Bishop State Community College where he earned his Associated Degree in Nursing. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, and his Master of Business Administration from Amberton University. He is a Certified Medical Practice Executive, an active member of a number of professional and community organizations, and was Honorary Commander 96th Medical Squadron at Eglin AFB. In his new role, Byrd will oversee the daily operations of Providence Medical Group’s 20-plus physician practices located from Moss Point, Mississippi to Gulf Shores, Alabama.
