What is the PTA Entrance Exam?
The new PTA Entrance Exam is designed specifically to assess a student's preparation to enter the workforce as a Physical Therapy Assistant. The new exam is in alignment with the new requirements set forth by CAPTE, Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.
The PTA Entrance Exam consists of the following academic skill areas:
- Writing
- Applied Mathematics
- English/Language Usage
- Reading
- Science
How do I prepare for the exam?
The best way to prepare for the PTA Entrance Exam is to review materials from the courses you have taken, including, but not limited to, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, English 101, College Algebra, Psychology, and Medical Terminology.
How much is the exam?
The cost of the PTA Entrance Exam is $70. Payments can be made at the Bursar’s Office, located in the Annex Building, Broad Street. It is a cream-colored building with green trimming located on the Southeast corner of Congress and Broad Streets. Once you enter the building, the Bursar’s Office is located on your immediate right.
If you are enrolled as a student, you can make the payment in your Wildcat Portal via the Student Self-Service Tab. Click 'Open Student Dashboard'. Once the dashboard opens, click 'Make Payments' under 'Student Accounts'. You will make your payment for the LAC PTA Entrance Exam.
How do I register?
To register for the PTA Entrance Exam, you must complete the registration form, PTA Entrance Exam Spring 2026 – Fill in form. Once the registration form is complete and payment has been made, a copy of the receipt must be emailed to tmullen@bishop.edu or mwestry@bishop.edu.
You will receive a confirmation email once a copy of the receipt has been received. The email will contain instructions for the procedure for the day of the test. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Westry at (251) 405-7129.

Because we have limited spots available for each testing date, seats will be assigned on a “First Paid, First Served” basis. In the event the date you chose is not available, you will be given the opportunity to choose a different test date.
