Angelo Archible

This is Coach Archible’s 26th year as Head Coach of Bishop State Community College Softball Team. He began his Softball Coaching career at Bishop State in its inaugural year in 1993 as an assistant and took over as Head Coach in 1994. He coached the Slow Pitch Softball team for 6 years, leading them to 6 straight State Tournament appearances and a State Runner Up trophy.

Bishop State began playing Fast Pitch Softball in 2000, and Coach Archible has led them to 10 State Tournaments appearances and a State Runner Up trophy, while being named Coach of the Year in 2005.

Prior to arriving at Bishop State, Coach Archible was named Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Spring Hill College from 1988-1993.

He led the Women’s team to its first-ever GCAC Conference Tournament appearance in 1995. He also assisted the Men’s team to two (2) GCAC Conference Championships and a top 16 National Rankings.

He also assisted the Bishop State Women’s Basketball team to it’s first-ever State Championship in 2000, along with numerous State appearances.

He has produced numerous Academic All Americans, All-Region Players, and has also helped a significant amount of players move on to the next level and in life.

Coach Archible is a native of Mobile Alabama, where he played baseball at Central High School before attending and graduating from Murphy High School in 1973.

He also played baseball at Bishop State from 1973-1975, graduating with honors in 1975, before moving on to Alabama State University and graduating with academic honors in 1977.

Coach Archible earned his Masters Degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy in 1995.

He is married to Jean Edwards Archible. They are the proud parents and grandparents of 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
