Student Organizations Bishop State Community College Choir The Bishop State Community College Choir is comprised of students representing many disciplines within the college?s program. Students who make up this choir have been inspired and encouraged to perform the best possible from the vast realm of standard choral literature. Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education (HSTE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in HSTE programs. HOSA is 100% health care. Since its inception in 1976, HOSA has grown steadily reaching nearly 90,000 members through 44 chartered HOSA State Associations and approximately 2,600 secondary and post-secondary/collegiate chapters in 2007-2008. Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Bishop State Coummunity College student Jubair Khan, a member of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), attended the American International Group, Inc., Credit Counseling Challenge Seminar in New York on February 3-4. SIFE is a non-profit organization educating people on concepts like market economics, entrepreneurship, and business ethics through educational outreach projects. The following objectives and goals are expected to be met by Bishop State’s members during the academic year 2008-2009:
Phi Theta Kappa The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold: 1) recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and (2) provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.
