Bishop State Faculty Member Captures Chancellor's Award
December 3, 2009 – Dr. Roxanne Hannon-Odom, Chairperson of the Division of Developmental Education and English Instructor at Bishop State Community College, captured the 2009 Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor's Award in the Academic Faculty category. She joins an elite group of 23 prior winners.
The Chancellor's Award was established to recognize individuals from each ACCS institution with the highest standards of professional performance and service among college employees.
Former Interim Chancellor Joan Davis presented the award to Dr. Hannon-Odom at the Alabama Community College Association 2009 Conference held in Montgomery on Nov. 23. Dr. Hannon-Odom, who has been an instructor at Bishop State since 1990, received a plaque and a $1,000 stipend to be used for professional development activities.
Three other Bishop State employees were nominated by the college's faculty and staff to compete for the Chancellor's Award in their respective categories. They were Administrators – Wanda Daniels, Assistant to the Dean of Students; Technical Faculty – Jason Corley, Automotive Technology Instructor; and Support Staff – Candy Koger, Secretary. They each received a plaque as members of the Class of 2009.
