Mass Communication
Mass Communication courses fall within Area V in degree plans. Students interested in courses and/or careers in mass communication should speak with one of the instructors regarding course content and requirements prior to registering for classes. After completing the three offered courses in mass communication, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of print and broadcast journalism.
- Apply practical knowledge in a mass communication venue (e.g., newspaper, radio or television station, or public relations office).

MCM 100 INTRODUCTION TO MASS COMMUNICATIONS: 3 credits
This course provides the student with general study of mass communication and journalism. This course includes theory, development, regulation, operation and effects upon society.
MCM 120 INTRODUCTION TO JOURNALISM: 3 credits
This course provides the student with general study of mass communication and journalism. This course includes theory, development, regulation, operation and effects upon society.
MCM 250 MASS COMMUNICATION PRACTICUM: 3 credits
This course provides practical experience in media through supervised part-or full-time employment with a newspaper, radio or television station, or public relations/advertising agency.
