What is Blackboard?


Bishop State has chosen to utilize Blackboard in all of its distance learning courses effective Fall 2009. Blackboard is an easy-to-use online course delivery and management system. Using Blackboard’s graphical point-and-click interface, instructors can post syllabi, readings, and assignments, as well as communicate via email, virtual chats or discussion boards.


This guide will assist you with accessing and navigating your Blackboard course site. In order to use Blackboard effectively, you need to be able to do the following:


  • Use web browsers
  • Download and save files from the Internet
  • Complete online forms
  • Ask questions if you have a problem or concern
